We are seeking senior software engineers with 4+ years of experience to join our Engineering Team in Manhattan, New York.

SeedInvest is the largest venture/startup investing platform in the U.S. with a rapidly growing network of over 500,000 users and has successfully funded north of 200 startups to date. We are in the first innings of having “a little bit of startup” in everyone’s investment portfolio and believe our growing suite of products will give rise to a better alternative to the traditional private capital formation rails that exist today. We would love to hear from you if you have:

4 or more years of experience with software engineering
Experience and track record in designing, building, and deploying secure, scalable services
A passion for enabling and motivating people to do their best work
Ability to work very well cross-functionally in a flat startup
Ability to think rigorously and make hard decisions/tradeoffs quickly and correctly
Comfort in a fast-pace environment with a high level of autonomy and responsibilities

We expect you to:

Lead by example and set the bar high for peers and teammates by contributing high quality, production-ready code
Provide technical and architectural direction for the development, design, integration, testing, and maintenance of our platform
Actively work with management and other engineers to build the product and technical vision
Introduce and drive practice of best-in-class processes
Manage technical debt to ensure development velocity stays responsive and predictable
Attract, engage, retain, and mentor teams of exceptional engineers and managers
Eventually become an expert on startup investing, venture capital, and fundraising

About Product & Engineering at SeedInvest

The engineering team is also dubbed the product team at SeedInvest; the team’s overarching mission is to build a top-class suite of products and experiences for the new wave of venture capital investors and startups. Our entire engineering team is able to run full-stack across product responsibilities with a core responsibility/emphasis on engineering (tech ops, infrastructure, back-end, front-end) and healthy contributions to product management and design.

We choose the technology we work with based on a combination of near and medium-term pros and cons while looking to design systems for the long-term. While we are therefore generally a technology agnostic team, our core stack currently consists of:

Angular/Vue
Django/Python
AWS

We launch products in bite-size releases and iterate quickly. While we don’t follow agile/scrum exactly, we take tenants and stay flexible in our approach to work.

We work in collaborative pods of 2-5 engineers.
We have daily standups.
We keep 1 engineer on-call each week.
We have monthly retrospectives and are continuously improving documentation.
All pull requests are subject to code review.
We deploy multiple times per week.

Representative Projects on the Roadmap

While we keep longer-term roadmaps iterative, the following are several products/projects we are exploring in 2021 based on company-wide strategy:

Building a new investor on-ramp experience for the millions of first-time startup investors
Overhauling, re-designing, and re-architecting our fundraising profile pages
Auto Invest 2.0
Post-fundraise platform allowing founders in our portfolio to simply and easily manage shareholders
Institutionalizing (and re-designing) internal APIs and services

Location

While we are looking to continue to build the team in Manhattan, New York, the entire SeedInvest team is currently working from home and we are open to the idea of ongoing support for remote work. Please let us know if remote work is a requirement for you!
